Introduction
This article will guide you on how to cancel an HCP self-service account.
Note: If you have an annual/contract account, please reach out to your Account Manager for assistance.
Prerequisites
- Must be requested by the organization non-SSO Owner user (email/password).
- Removed all users except the Owner.
- Must have SSO deleted if configured.
- Must have any outstanding invoices paid.
- Deleted all HCP assets including any
- Vault dedicated clusters, Consul clusters, Packer registries, HashiCorp Virtual Networks (HVNs), and Vault Secrets apps.

Terraform accounts must be unlinked from HCP billing if linked.
- To unlink, please downgrade your TFC account to the Free tier from the TFC portal.
- Otherwise, an HCP account is needed in order to keep your TFC organization.
Steps

Owner must sign in as non-SSO owner (email/password)
- Please use the force email+password link to login as your non-SSO user.
- Additionally, please make sure that SSO is disabled if configured. See how to delete SSO for assistance.

Delete resources
- Please see this guide on how to delete HCP resources for assistance.
- Please delete all/any Vault clusters, Consul clusters, Packer registries, HashiCorp Virtual Networks (HVNs), and Vault Secrets apps.

Remove all users except for the Owner.
- Please go to your Access control (IAM) in the HCP Portal and remove all users except for your Owner user.

Contact HCP Support Engineering
- Please open a HCP Support ticket requesting for an HCP account deletion.
- Select "HashiCorp Cloud Platform" as the product.
- Select "Account and User Management" as the HCP Category

HCP Support Engineering will receive your request and process the account deletion request.
